Welcome Stamp

The Barbados Welcome Stamp is a remote work visa that allows foreign nationals to live in Barbados and work remotely for employers or clients based outside the country for up to 12 months. Launched in July 2020, the programme targets remote workers, digital nomads, freelancers, and entrepreneurs whose income is earned from outside Barbados. The programme currently runs through 31 December 2026.

• Valid passport for the applicant and all accompanying family members
• Annual income of at least USD 50,000, or sufficient means to support yourself and dependants
• Valid health insurance covering the full period of stay in Barbados
• Must work remotely for employers or clients located outside Barbados
• Cannot accept employment from Barbados citizens, permanent residents, or local entities
• No minimum educational or professional qualifications required
• No age restrictions for principal applicants

• Passport-sized photograph of the principal applicant (and all family members aged 18+)
• Biodata page of valid passport (for all family members)
• Proof of relationship for dependants (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
• Income declaration certifying expected annual income of USD 50,000 or more
• Proof of valid health insurance coverage

The Welcome Stamp is valid for 12 months from the date of approval. Holders may renew as many times as they wish by reapplying through the same online portal. Renewals receive a 25% discount on fees: BBD 3,000 (approximately USD 1,500) for individuals and BBD 4,500 (approximately USD 2,250) for families. There is no maximum number of renewals.

Spouses, partners (including same-sex partners), and dependent children can be included under a single family application. The family application fee is BBD 6,000 (approximately USD 3,000), compared to BBD 4,000 (approximately USD 2,000) for an individual. Upon the parent's approval, children automatically receive a student visa permitting enrolment in Barbados schools without a separate application. Parents may choose private schools, public schools (subject to space availability), or home schooling.

Welcome Stamp holders are exempt from Barbados income tax. Holders are deemed non-resident for income tax purposes and are not subject to income tax, social security contributions, or individual reporting requirements in Barbados. Tax obligations in the holder's home country continue to apply. The standard 17.5% VAT applies to goods and services purchased locally.

Applications are submitted entirely online at barbadoswelcomestamp.bb. The four-step form covers personal information, employment details, dependant information, and document uploads. No fee is charged at submission. The Chief Immigration Officer reviews applications and issues a decision within approximately 7 working days via email. If approved, payment instructions are sent with a 28-day deadline to complete payment through the government payment gateway. The visa is electronically linked to the applicant's passport, so no physical stamp or document is required upon arrival. Holders may freely enter and exit Barbados during the 12-month validity period.
