Dominica's Work In Nature (WIN) Extended Stay Visa allows remote workers, freelancers, business owners, and families to live on the island for up to 18 months while working remotely for employers or clients based outside the country. Launched in March 2021 as a tourism-recovery initiative, the programme is administered by the Ministry of Tourism with applications processed through a dedicated government portal. Key benefits include an income tax waiver on foreign earnings, duty-free concessions on personal effects imported within the first three months, free travel in and out of Dominica during the visa period, and the ability to apply for a local driver's licence.

Processing

Applications are submitted online at apply.windominica.gov.dm. Processing takes 14 to 28 days and involves review by the WIN Tourism Department, due diligence by the Joint Regional Communications Centre, and a security review by the National Security and Home Affairs Department. Upon approval, an approval letter is issued and the WIN Visa Stamp is placed in your passport on arrival in Dominica.

Family and Dependants

The primary applicant may include a spouse or domestic partner, children or stepchildren under 18, and other relatives who are wholly dependent due to age or infirmity. All dependants aged 18 and over must provide police records. Health insurance must cover every family member included in the application. Children of WIN visa holders may attend schools in Dominica at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

Travel and Stay

WIN visa holders may leave and re-enter Dominica freely during the visa period. The 18-month validity runs from the date of the arrival stamp regardless of any departures. Within the first three months, holders may import personal and business-related items duty-free, though Customs Service Charges and Environmental Surcharges still apply.
