Germany's Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) is a points-based job seeker visa introduced in June 2024. It allows qualified professionals to come to Germany for up to one year to search for a job. Applicants earn points based on qualifications, language skills, work experience, age, and connection to Germany. A minimum of 6 points is required.

Requirements
  • Recognized qualification (university degree or 2-year vocational training recognized in Germany)
  • German language skills (B1) OR English skills (B2)
  • Minimum 6 points from: qualification (4 pts), language skills (up to 4 pts), work experience (up to 3 pts), age under 35 (2 pts), previous stay in Germany (1 pt), connection to Germany (1 pt)
  • Proof of sufficient funds (blocked account with ~€12,324)
  • Valid passport
  • Health insurance for Germany
Restrictions
  • Cannot engage in full-time employment (max 20 hours/week trial employment or side jobs)
  • Must actively search for qualified employment
  • Cannot switch to other residence permits except work visa
  • Must leave Germany if no job found within 12 months
