The A6 Investor Visa, commonly known as Kazakhstan's "Golden Visa," is a long-term multiple-entry visa for foreign nationals who have invested more than USD 300,000 in the Kazakh economy. Launched in June 2025, it provides a pathway to a 10-year residence permit and was modelled after golden visa programs in Europe, the UAE, and Singapore. The program targets both individual investors and heads of foreign companies making qualifying capital investments.

  • Investment of more than USD 300,000 in the charter capital of Kazakh companies or in locally traded securities
  • Investment must have been made within the 36 months preceding the application
  • Valid passport with at least 3 months validity beyond the requested visa period and minimum 2 blank pages
  • Valid medical insurance covering the period of stay
  • No educational, professional, or language requirements

  • Proof of consular fee payment (approximately USD 260)
  • For investments through a foreign company: apostilled documents confirming the connection between the applicant and the company
Duration & Renewal

The A6 visa is a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 10 years, allowing unrestricted entry and exit throughout the validity period. Upon expiry, a new application with updated investment documentation may be submitted. The visa provides the basis for obtaining a permanent residence permit for up to 10 years. If the investment is withdrawn (e.g., company liquidation or share sale), the visa may be cancelled.

Family Members

Spouses and dependent children under 18 are eligible for A6 family visas with the same validity period and entry frequency as the primary holder. Required documents include apostilled marriage certificates (for spouses) and birth certificates (for children), translated into Kazakh or Russian. Dependants may not engage in labour activities unless separately authorised. No additional investment is required for family members.

Tax Implications

Tax residency is established after 183 days of physical presence in Kazakhstan per calendar year. Individual income tax is 10% on Kazakhstan-sourced income, with no tax on foreign-sourced income for non-residents. Corporate income tax is 20%. Kazakhstan has double taxation treaties with over 50 countries. AIFC participants may benefit from preferential tax rates.

Application Process
  1. Submit an electronic petition through the elicense.kz or egov.kz portal with documentary proof of the qualifying investment
  2. The Investment Committee reviews the petition within 3 working days and issues either a petition for the visa or a reasoned refusal
  3. The petition is forwarded to the Migration Service for registration of the invitation letter (5 working days, up to 30 calendar days if National Security Committee coordination is required)
  4. Submit the visa application with all required documents at a Kazakhstan embassy or consulate
  5. Visa is issued within 5 working days

The total estimated timeline is 10-25 working days. No interview is required. Foreign nationals already in Kazakhstan on certain visa categories (B3, B9, B10, C3, C4, or C5) may apply to change their visa category to A6 without leaving the country.

Path to Residency

The A6 visa provides the basis for a permanent residence permit valid for up to 10 years. After 5 years of continuous permanent residence (or 3 years if married to a Kazakh citizen), holders may apply for citizenship through naturalisation. Applicants for citizenship must demonstrate elementary Kazakh language ability and knowledge of the Constitution and history of Kazakhstan. Dual citizenship is generally not recognised.
